Clay has been added to beauty recipes for centuries, and it’s no secret that it can work wonders on skin. You might be wondering what’s the right type of clay for your skin, and what are the best ingredients to use with clay.

Important note: never use metal when mixing your clay mask. Use glass, plastic or wooden instruments to keep clay’s properties potent and effective.

 Bentonite Clay

Fairly common and easy to find, Bentonite clay is made of volcanic ash and can be extremely effective in pulling out toxins and impurities from the skin.

Recipe to try:

Using equal parts clay and filtered water, create a paste to apply on blemishes, bug bites or cuts. For dry skin, you can substitute jojoba oil for the water in the mask. You can also apply this combination all over your face and neck once or twice a week for 10-15 minutes.
